2) Cottage Rental Details: 2010
Sleeps 1 - 5       3 singles, 1 double futon

Includes fully equipped bathroom with shower, woodstove, bedding and towels, large grassed area and sun deck. The cottage can be your private, comfortable, base-camp for kayaking, biking, canoeing or just relaxing.

We make available breakfast, lunch and dinner to all cottage guests. Meals can be delivered to the cottage or enjoyed with us in the farm house.

European style cooking: organic garden produce and fresh sea food requires menus and prices to be changed by the season and availability.  Between our gardens, wild fruits, mushrooms, fresh and dried goods, we produce, collect and process 75% of our food requirements!   NATURALLY!

3) Farmstay Learn by Doing Programs 2010

Living and working on our 10 acre property where we naturally raise sheep, chickens and organic vegetables becomes a farmstay.  Bold Point Farm stay offers a unique way of combining a vacation with a learn by doing experience.

 

 

Learn about organic farming and holistic animal care. Learn about medicinal plants, tree pruning, wild berry picking, kitchen garden planting, harvesting, pickling, canning, jam making, fruit drying, and smoking of meats. We can show you and teach you how to make country wines and jam from wild berries (salmonberry, currants, Oregon grape, elder flower).  Wild craft for berries, teas, mushrooms, dyes.

We will share our knowledge with your about planting and harvesting organic vegetables, wild crafted teas, wild sea foods, naturally raised lamb and chicken. In the kitchen, we will blend the naturally raised ingredients into wonderful, slow cooked meal. These meals are further enjoyed with hours of stimulating conversations!

Rates: Learn by Doing:2008: Accommodations, meals plus, learning-by-doing sessions. Direct learning is about 4 hours per day.  Outings, gatherings from forest or sea, can be longer, due to discoveries.  The remainder of the day is free time.

Daily, 400$ per person. Based upon a mid day arrival and noon departure.

4) Eco Education and Exploration Programs 2010

Farm stay and guided wilderness learning.

Rod Burns, co-owner of Bold Point is a Certified Professional Heritage Interpreter (CPHI) and EcoTourism trainer. He will guide you on inspiring educational wilderness learning experiences.

Outings could include:

A)  Island Active 1: an introduction to our Coastal Environment, kayak or hike, 4 - 6 hours:

B) Island Active 2:  discovering the islands geological history! kayak or hike.

C) The World of Small: through woodland and shoreline hikes we search for the tiny! 3 hour time block $75 per family

D) Signs of the Past - clues to the future: discovering signs of human activity 10, 000 years to present.

E) Edible Wild / Eat or Be Eaten: how animals, including humans, survive the seasons. Mushroom Discovery Tours  April / May, Sept & October, find, fry  or dry!

Eco Exploration Rates: 2010
Wilderness and Culture Explorations 50$ per hour / group, min. of 2 hours

kayak  rental, boat charters, rafting rates additional
Canoe / kayak transfer to lakes, ocean 40$ per trip, return included.

Pets:
Dogs and cats are welcome, provided that they are under absolute control, at all times. We do have a secure kennel available, should circumstances warrant its use.

- Airport (Campbell River) pick-up and transit to Bold Point Farmstay. (requires 2 – 3 hours)        150$ one way / 250$ return Includes ferry fees.

- Bus Terminal Pickup and transit to Bold Point (requires 2 hours) 125$ / 200$ return. Includes ferry fees.

- Taxi: Quathiaski Cover ferry to Bold Point, 80$, one way.

- Special trips to locations around Quadra Island: 25$ - plus.

- Adventure trips: We can make recommendations. We DO NOT take commissions.  We know the companies are NOT equal in service delivery! Talk with us, we’ll try to locate a company which will meet or exceed your expectations.

 

Social Payment:

Since 1995, Bold Point Farmstay has believed that it is our social and business responsibility to help pay the bills for environmental protection and education. We continue to donate in-cash and in-service, to selected environmental education, environmental enhancement and ecotourism advocacy groups!

We encourage guests to contribute 5% of their holiday budget to similar groups!
